VIJAYAWADA: The police on Tuesday arrested S. Sateesh Babu of Krishnalanka and P. Dhanunjaya of Tadepalli on the charge of kidnapping a boy. The police said that Sateesh Babu, a sweets vendor in Pandit Nehru Bus Station, borrowed Rs. 4 lakhs from Simhadri Ramakrishna of Gollapudi, but did not repay it. Sateesh Babu is charged with kidnapping Rahul, son of Ramakrishna on September 6. Sateesh was accused of sending a letter to Ramakrishna demanding a ransom of Rs. 40 lakhs for releasing the boy. Sateesh was charged with signing the letter as `Raddy'. Since Ramakrishna had some dispute with one Reddy of G. Konduru, the police suspected that it could be the handiwork of that person. Sateesh also advised Ramakrishna to paste posters in the city announcing prize money of Rs. 1 lakh to those who provided information about Rahul. However, Ramarkrishna identified the voice of Sateesh during a phone conversation and informed the police. A spelling mistake in the letter sent by Sateesh to Ramakrishna helped unravel the mystery. In that letter, Sateesh signed `Raddy' instead of `Reddy'. When the police asked Sateesh to write the name Reddy on a piece of paper, he wrote `Raddy'. The police said that the Sateesh confessed to having committed the offence and also the involvement of Dhanunjaya.
