Woman `poisons' daughter, kills self

Sequel to rift over move to sell house

HYDERABAD: A businessman's wife allegedly poisoned her 15-year-old daughter to death before killing herself at Neredmet on Monday night.

Padma, 35, her daughter Krishnaveni and son Kaushik, 11, were found lying unconscious in the house at Brindavan Colony around 9 p.m. by their neighbours.

Padma's husband Vijay Kumar reportedly incurred losses in business and had decided to sell the house to clear his debts. This created a rift in the family with Padma rejecting the idea of selling the house. She reportedly slipped into depression as Kumar made it clear that he had no other option, Neredmet Inspector Chittibabau explained.

Shifted to hospital

On Monday night, she allegedly administered poison to her children and consumed the same later when Kumar went out on some work.

Alerted by neighbours, Kumar rushed to house and shifted them to hospital.

While Padma and Krishnaveni were declared brought dead, Kaushik survived. Doctors said he was out of danger.
