Letters to the Editor
The editorial "Infighting as a way of life" (Sept. 14) is harshly critical of the BJP. It has tried to make a mountain out of a molehill. There are differences among the rank and file in every party, including the Left. Let us understand that differences will continue to exist. It would not augur well to bury them and pay obeisance to one leader as partymen of some parties are wont to do.
S. Thyagarajan,
A political party can be held together only by a leader who is the be-all and end-all or by a strong ideology. When the need to soft-pedal ideology for power arose and the BJP succumbed to the temptation, it started losing its structural coherence. Unlike the Congress, which also is innocent of a well-defined ideology, the BJP does not have a dynastic leadership to provide the glue. It will therefore have to go back to the RSS to retrieve its ideological platform.
K. Vijayakumar,
