Importance of private detectives' role underlined

Staff Reporter

Checking the antecedents of staff is now part of the employment process

CHENNAI: The former DGP, V.R. Lakshminarayanan, called for a sincere, professional and honest work by private detectives, as this alone could give them a purposeful role in society.

The stock of private detectives is definitely up.

There is a demand for genuine professional expertise especially with a boom in the IT sector.

Checking the antecedents of recruits is now part of the employment process in most companies and these professionals play an important role.

While usually police officials or those in the forensic department start their units after retirement, senior fingerprint expert of the Tamil Nadu police department R Varadaraj launched his Sun Detective Intelligence Network India (tel: 30969553) on Wednesday after seeking voluntary retirement. The work of trained private detectives was recognised in many developed countries, speakers at the meeting said and urged that similar accredited organisations should evolve in the domestic context.
