Exploring various facets of India

National Geographic channel is all set to enchant viewers with stories that highlight unique aspects of the country in a 12-episode series, "It Happens Only In India". To be premiered this coming Sunday, the series explores various facets of the country to showcase mystery, adventure, wildlife, technology and rich heritage. At a Press conference here on Thursday, National Geographic Channel senior vice-president (content and communication) Dilshad Master said: "The series is about a journey around this vast country. It offers insights on various regions and diverse cultures. There is a hidden world out there, waiting to be unravelled." There was a special screening of the programme, "Great Indian Witch Hunt", at the launch. Set in Jharkand, the programme offers an insight into the beliefs of black magic that is often considered to be stronger than magic itself. The programme shows desperate villagers heading out for witch-hunts.

Other episodes of the series include "Stuntmen of Bollywood - A true life story of Habib Haji'', a motorcar stuntman in Bollywood; "The Monkey Prince", examining the hierarchies between two groups of monkeys; "The Serpent", investigating the life of notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj; "Leopards of Bollywood", bringing alive the frightening story of leopard killings in Mumbai, "The Last Maneater: Killer Tigers of India", a peek into the man-eating tigers of Sunderbans; and "Vultures Death Watch", examining the decline in the vulture population in the country. — Madhur Tankha
