SALEM: The final electoral rolls of 11 Assembly segments of the Salem district - brought under both summary and intensive revision - were published on Thursday. Releasing the finalised rolls of four Assembly segments of Salem II, Panamarathupatti, Veerapandi and Yercaud, Salem Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) V. Dakshinamoorthy said that barring Yercaud constituency, the other three segments recorded a sharp increase in the numbers of voters. "These segments are basically urban and hence the increase," he said. The Yercaud Assembly segment had registered a decline as many of the voters had migrated to plains in search of jobs. Mr. Dakshinamoorthy said that during intensive revision, officials were able to delete many names of voters under the `999' section, who were found to have shifted their residence. This exercise had made the present rolls error-free. Salem II had 2,50,555 voters against its last year total of 2,31,671. While Panamarathupatti had 2,12,415 voters (against 2,08,130 last year), Veerapandi Assembly constituency had 2,70,390 voters (against 2,56,263 last year). The ST Assembly segment of Yercaud had 1,58,943 voters against the last year's total of 1,58,691.
