TIRUMALA: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh arrived in Tirumala on Thursday night along with his wife Vaishali Tai Deshmukh and other family members. Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh will participate in the abhishekam at the hill temple along with his family members on Friday. While the Chief Minister reached Tirumala by road, his wife and other family members walked all the way up to Tirumala. On his arrival at Tirumala, The Maharashtra Chief Minister was received by the TTD's Executive Officer, A.P.V.N. Sarma, Special Officer, A.V. Dharma Reddy and others.

The 145th birthday of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was observed as 38th Engineers' Day at a function organised by the Institution of Engineers (Tirupati) here on Thursday. SVU Vice-Chancellor S. Jayarama Reddy said that the professional society was started by a group of dedicated and committed Indian and English engineers in 1929 with headquarters at Madras, when the status of the profession had become a matter of profound importance.
