BELLARY: Thimmaiah, Vice-President of the BJP SC Morcha, has condemned the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, for seeking the reclassification of reservations to ensure that the benefits reach all backward classes. He urged Mr. Deve Gowda to stop making such statements and initiate steps to get it done through the coalition Government immediately. However, when sought to know whether Mr. Deve Gowda was right in seeking reclassification of reservations, he declined comment. "There is no question of me saying whether Mr. Deve Gowda is right or wrong. My only point is that why did Mr. Deve Gowda not realise this earlier when he was the Chief Minister and Prime Minister and why is he raking up the issue now," he said.
Reservation benefits
Mr. Thimmaiah sought to know the reservation benefits enjoyed by Kurubas and Idigas. Mr. Deve Gowda should ensure that the reservation benefits reach all as his party is part of the Government, he said.
Rally
Danappa Kallimani, BJP State unit Secretary, said a rally of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes and slum dwellers will be organised by the BJP at the Palace Grounds on October 28 in which national-level leaders will participate.
