Two golds for TN

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu won three gold, two silver and one bronze medals in the sub-junior National carrom championship held recently in Chandigarh.

Tamil Nadu retained the boys' team title beating Uttar Pradesh 2-1, while U.P. took the girls' title after a 2-1 win over Bihar.

The results: Boys: Final: Dilli Babu (TN) bt Chandrakumar (TN) 25-15, 25-9. Semifinals: Dilli Babu bt G.D. Ashok Kumar (TN) 25-12, 25-18; Chandrakumar bt Arun Babu 25-10, 25-15.

Cadet boys: Final: Vigneshwaran (TN) bt S. Ananthanarayanan 25-5, 25-16Girls: Final: Dipika (Bih) bt Kanakadhara (TN) 25-9, 25-5.

Cadet girls: Final: I. Kazal (Bih) bt A. Benneta Gladys (TN) 25-0, 25-9Semifinals: Kazal bt A. Balapurkar (Guj) 25-0, 25-4; Benneta Gladys bt Sonal (Bih) 25-23, 23-17.

Team: Boys: 3-4 position: Hyderabad bt Bihar 2-1. Semifinals: TN bt Bihar 3-0; U.P. bt Hyderabad 2-1.

Girls: 3-4: TN bt Chandigarh 2-1. Semifinals: U.P. bt Chandigarh 3-0; Bihar bt Tamil Nadu 2-1.
