KHAMMAM: Adding to the din of electioneering that entered a crucial phase in the town, the Minister for Municipal Administration, Koneru Ranga Rao, on Thursday campaigned for candidates fielded by the Congress party and its ally, the CPI(M), in different wards. Accompanied by senior leaders of the party including, Ramreddy Venkata Reddy, MLA, and Bhatti Vikramarka and a host of others, he ventured into weaker section colonies and slums and requested the voters to get his party re-elected in the municipality. The Minister, who is in charge of Khammam district, assured the electorate that new colonies that had sprung up in the vicinity of the town over the years would be developed and provided all amenities. The Government had spent Rs.15 crores during the past 15 months for improving the basic facilities. He walked down the lanes of Ricob Bazar thus canvassing support for the party candidates in wards - 12 and 13. He paid a visit to localities falling in wards - 34. 36, 10, 9 and 6. Party men joined him in the campaign in a big way. He was the first senior leader from the party to take part in the campaign and enthuse workers. He also took part in the campaign of the CPI(M) candidate, Mateti Rama Rao, in ward no 40. The CPI (M) MLA, Thammineni Veerabhadram met the Minister and complained to him that some Congress leaders, including a former MLA, were not extending any cooperation to the CPI(M) candidates. The Minister assured the CPI(M) leaders that all such problems would be sorted out in a day or two.
