WOOING VOTERS: PCC president K. Keshava Rao addressing a meeting in Tuni on Thursday. Ministers - Gollapalli Surya Rao and Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao are also seen.
TUNI (EAST GODAVARI DT.): Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Keshava Rao has opined that private armies and killings in the name of `kobras' should end in the State. As part of his election campaign, Mr. Keshava Rao reached Tuni from Visakhapatnam on Thursday, two hours behind the schedule. Addressing mediapersons, Mr. Keshava Rao, without referring to Telangana Jagarana Sena (TJS) directly, said that private armies in any form were dangerous in a democratic system. On the demand of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Union Minister A. Narendra to arrest Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and others who participated in talks with Maoists, Mr. Rao said that Maoists were invited to the negotiating table when there was no ban on the outfit.
On tax hike
When asked whether the Government would increase house or property tax after municipal elections, the PCC chief said that he was not competent to comment on policy matters. He, however, did not rule out such a prospect. On the rebel problem, the PCC chief said that the party would not spare them. They would be dismissed from the party immediately after the elections. Ministers -- Jakkmapudi Ramamohana Rao, Gollapalli Surya Rao, Kakinada MP MM Pallam Raju and DCC president Thota Narasimham were present.
