MALAPPURAM: The central valuation camp being organised by the Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board at its Chelari headquarters entered the third day on Thursday. The camp has attracted public attention by its size and set-up. Nearly 900 examiners are engaged in the evaluation of eight-lakh answer scripts from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by Saturday night. Nearly 1.88-lakh students from across the country and abroad took the Samastha public examinations held for fifth, seventh and 10th standards on September 10 and 11. The examiners are not allowed to go out of the camp. Pinangod Aboobacker, Board manager, said that nearly three-lakh answer scripts were evaluated on the first three days. The camp is divided into 11 units of 80 examiners each. Each unit has two supervisors and two assistants. K.C. Ahammed Kutty Musliar is the chief superintendent. He is assisted by two deputy superintendents. Although there are classes up to 12th standard in the 8,381 madrasas under the Board, the annual public examinations are held only for three standards. These madrasas are spread across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Lakshadweep and the Andaman Island in the country and the UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Malaysia. Over a million students currently study under the Board. As many as 76,187 teachers are deployed across 378 ranges, with each range covering 12 to 15 madrasas. The Board has 102 inspectors known as `mufattish.' While 1.07-lakh students took the fifth standard examination at 5,972 centres, 69,182 took the seventh standard examination at 4,698 centres.
