MANGALORE: A group of around nine people waylaid a urea-laden lorry headed for Mandya near Periyashanti along National Highway 48 under Uppinangady police station limits on Wednesday. They reportedly robbed four occupants in the lorry. The occupants were threatened with knives and forced to part with Rs. 1.68 lakh earned from selling vegetables. They also took away Rs. 2,800 from the driver. According to a complaint lodged by Shashidhar with Uppinangady police, they could not ascertain the exact number of people in the group that waylaid them. Suresh Babu, Inspector-General of Police (Southern Range) and senior police officials visited the spot.
