Anna varsity mulling annual exam for first year
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
Anna University is considering a proposal to introduce an annual examination pattern for the first year of engineering courses, the University Vice Chancellor, D. Viswanathan, has said.
Addressing students of Deendayal Engineering College in Tiruvallur district near here, the Vice Chancellor noted that there were demands from colleges for shifting from the semester-based system to an annual examination at least for the first year. The matter was being considered by the University's Syndicate and Academic Senate, as also by a committee looking at examination reforms.
The college chairman, T.D. Naidu, urged the university to help the individual colleges maintain high standards in infrastructure and academics. The separate inspections of colleges by statutory or apex bodies and the universities should be avoided and they should think of joint inspections.
