CHENNAI:
Over 500 airmen were inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a passing-out parade at the Air Force Station, Tambaram.
Air Marshal B.N. Gokhale, Senior Air Staff Officer Headquarters Training Command, IAF, Bangalore, reviewed the parade. After inspecting the parade, he presented trophies to meritorious airmen.
Addressing the newly inducted "air warriors", he said that career prospects in the IAF had substantially improved and urged airmen to strive to reach greater heights.
Technology intensive service
Pointing out that operational efficiency of the IAF depended on maintenance and administrative support, the IAF was turning into a technology intensive service with constant induction of "high performance, state of the art and high precision military hardware".
The Airmen who passed out on Friday were trained at three training institutes in the IAF.
The highlight of the passing out parade was an impressive drill movement of the passing out trainees and fly past by the IAF aircraft.
