Inflation inches up

NEW DELHI: Halting the downtrend witnessed for six consecutive weeks, the rate of inflation inched up marginally to 3.16 per cent during the week ended September 3 from 3.01 per cent a week earlier, mainly owing to the higher prices of industrial fuel, essentials and non-food items. In the same week a year ago, inflation was higher at 8.15 per cent.
