U.S. citizen's charge against Odissi teacher
Staff Reporter
BHUBANESWAR:
A woman from the United States, who is here to learn the Odissi dance, has lodged a complaint with the local police alleging that her `guru' had outraged her modesty.
Acting upon the complaint of Margaret Poulick, the police have registered a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident occurred in January, but Ms. Poulick said she had not reported the matter to the police so far, as fellow students had advised her that she would not get justice. But, she had reported the matter to a dancer.
The Superintendent of Police, Amitav Thakur, said efforts were on to record the statements of the `guru' and the dancer, who is abroad.
