Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The Congress on Friday announced that its Hyderabad plenary in October has been postponed in view of the Bihar elections.
Announcing this, Congress general secretary Ambika Soni said the party president Sonia Gandhi conveyed her decision on Friday after the Election Commission rejected the organisation's request to reschedule the poll itinerary in the wake of Ramzan and other festivals.
The plenary was scheduled from October 20 to 22.
Fresh dates soon
Polling for the first phase of Bihar polls begins on October 16. Ms. Soni said fresh dates for the plenary would be announced soon.
As for the Chief Ministers' conference, she said the dates would be finalised after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned from the United States.
