Brothers XI posts win; Aurobindo JC in final

HYDERABAD: Brothers XI defeated Oxford Blues in the `A' Division (two-day) league cricket championship match here.

The scores: `A' Division (two-day matches): Gemini Friends 217 and 140 for seven drew with VST 219 (Yakoob Pasha 53, N. Manoj 78, Saketh Shah six for 81).

Oxford Blues 130 and 165 (Dinesh Kumar 63, K. Raghavendra Chary 50, Md. Farazuddin Ahmed four for 35) lost to Brothers XI 209 (Rajesh Singh 54, T. Vijay Karthik seven for 78) and 89 for three.

Telangana 144 (Amjad Ali Khan five for 29) and 97 for seven (Anwar Ahmed Khan five for 36) lost to Vijay Hanuman 358 for nine decl. (Mohammad Taher 80, Ansari 114, Harinath 41, Sardar 48, Y. Shanthi Prasad five for 127). (Telangana conceded).

Two-wkt. win for Aurobindo JC

Bhavan's Aurobindo Junior College `A' moved into the final of The Hindu Trophy under-19 inter-collegiate cricket tournament with a two-wicket win over Wesley Junior College `B' at Hyderabad.

The scores: Wesley JC `B' 150 lost to Bhavans Aurobindo JC `A' 152 for 8 (G. Eshwar Prasad 50, Rachnesh four for 60, Bharat three for 11).

SNG wins

Swamy Narayan Gurukul recorded a 37-run win against St. Mary's Junior College (Yousufguda) in the Parle Cup (under-17) inter-school cricket tournament.

The scores: Chirec PS 157 (Vivek 36, A. Badari Srinivas three for 26, Shiva Rama Krishna three for 20) lost to Little Flower JC `B' 159 for three (Nikilesh Tunga 67, Shiva Rama Krishna 47).

Methodist JC 245 for nine (Naveed 84, Mudaseer 61, Sohail 34 not out, Vamshi five for 65, Naveen three for 34) bt HPS Ramanthpur 204 (Vamshi 51,Nerav 30, Basharath three for 20).

Swamy Narayan Gurukul 191 (Dinesh 30, Mehdi Hasan four for 22, Moiz three for 38, Naushad three for 12) bt St. Mary's JC, Yousufguda, 154 (Adithya 51, Naushad 40, Mehdi Hasan 32, Sanjay three for 22, Chirag three for 27).

Rohit shines

Good bowling by Rohit (six for 22) helped Gowtham Model School defeat St. Joseph's High School in the Himalaya Chyavanaprasha Cup inter-school cricket tournament on Friday.

The scores: St. Andrews 262 for seven (B. Sandeep 36, Nalin Krishna 80, Dilip 40, K. Sumanth 40) bt HPS Begumpet 127 (Anurag 39).

Gowtham Model School 392 for six (Vamshi Ram 66, Asad Ali 35, Saurabh Singh 88, Santhi 64 not out, Rohit 45 not out, Saketh four for 63) bt St. Joseph's HS 110 (Rohit six for 22).

HPS triumphs

HPS Begumpet and St. Pious Girls HS won the titles in the boys' and girls' sections respectively in the fifth Rev. Fr. Devasia Memorial inter-school basketball tournament on Friday.

The scores: Boys final: HPS (B) 57 (Vijay 24, Varun 11, Vikramadithya 15) bt St. Andrews HS 54 (Ashley 37, Santosh 10, Hamza 10).

Girls final: St. Pious HS 35 (Preethi 20, Swetha Sudha 11) bt St. Ann's HS 25 (Geetanjali 12, Neha 10).

Phoenix School wins

Phoenix School (Belgaum) defeated Sandur Residential School (Sandur) 4-0 in the all-India IPSC schools' football tournament at HPS Ramanthapur on Friday.

Other results: HPS Ramanthapur bt Donyl Polo Vidya Bhavan, Itanagar, 2-1; HPS Begumpet bt Sharan Basaveshwara Public School 2-0.
