High drama at funeral

Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: Residents of the 300 Quarters Colony, Nagaram, under the 36th division, witnessed high drama when the body of Golla Posetty, a member of the Telugu Desam Party, was brought to his residence for the funeral on Friday.

There was jostling between the TDP activists and the Congress workers when the former tried to put up strong resistance and take over the body of Posetty. The Congress activists pushed the TDP functionaries aside and whisked off the body to the graveyard. The police who were deployed in good strength remained silent spectators.

The former Ministers and TDP leaders, T. Devender Goud, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Mandava Venkateswar Rao, and three to four party former MLAs were present at that time. The Minister for Rural Development, D. Srinivas, and a host of his followers were also there at the other end of the colony.

Strongly protesting the Congress workers' "highhanded attitude" the TDP leaders wondered as to how the former would take away the body of their party worker when a galaxy of the party leaders were present.
