Photo Identity cards to all voters: CEC

SAHARSA: Chief Election Commissioner B. B. Tandon on Friday said the Commission was hopeful of achieving cent per cent coverage in providing Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to voters ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar.

The CEC said efforts to make available EPICs to all voters was on "but we are yet to take a decision on allowing the non- EPICs holder to exercise their franchise on the basis of alternative identification documents''.

Mr. Tandon, who is on his third visit to the State, told reporters that the Commission had decided to mark the serial number on EPICs to check ``bogus voting.'' — PTI
