BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi said on Friday that the enactments of the Government should be simple and made accessible not only to practitioners of law but also to general public. The Governor, who presided over a function where the revised edition of the codified volumes of Karnataka Acts were released, said laws formulated by the Government will have their own impact on the welfare of the people. They should be updated and made accessible to all. Non-availability of Acts adopted by State legislatures has created confusion in higher courts on several occasions, he added.
Lauded
The Governor said simple laws will make people understand their significance. He appealed to the Government to make available the released volumes of Acts in lower courts and universities. Mr. Chaturvedi lauded the efforts of the Department of Parliamentary Affairs and Law in bringing out 10 volumes of codified, updated and revised enactments, which are in force in the State. Through these efforts, the long-standing need of codification of all legislations in the State has been fulfilled. "This will be welcomed not only by practitioners of law, but also by general public. I am sure the volumes will go a long way in addressing people's grievances as far as information on enactments are concerned," he said. Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh released the revised edition of the codified volumes and said the Government will release funds to distribute the 10 volumes to offices of deputy commissioners, courts and universities. Mr. Dharam Singh said a circuit Bench of the High Court of Karnataka has been established in Dharwad and another Bench will be set up in Gulbarga soon.
