HYDERABAD: A Ganesh idol broke into pieces after it fell down on the lorry trolley on which it was being brought for immersion to Hussainsagar lake on Saturday evening. The 20-feet-high idol was installed by the Banjara Youth Welfare Association at Bapunagar in SR Nagar. The driver reportedly applied brakes suddenly when the lorry reached S.R. Nagar crossroads around 6 p.m. The idol jerked forward and fell down breaking into pieces, the SR Nagar police said. Another Ganesh idol crumbled after it fell down on the lorry trolley near Liberty crossroads. Meanwhile, the Ganesh idol immersion ceremony continued till late into Saturday night and was expected to continue till Sunday morning. Till midnight, 1,999 idols were immersed in the Hussainsagar.
