ERODE: The Karnataka police have arrested four persons in connection with the killing of a woman. On May 28, 2002 the Gobichettipalayam police found the body of a woman from the Thadapalli canal in Soundappur area. Kalamani of Dharmapuri preferred a habeas corpus petition in the Bangalore High Court stating that her sister Jayanthy and her two children were found missing. On this the Bangalore High Court ordered the Ramapura Police in Karnataka to register a case and investigate it. The police recently traced the two children from a hostel at Samrajanagar area and arrested Jayanthy's husband, Subramaniam, and his father, Marappa Chettiar, in Samarajnagar area. Subramaniam admitted to the police that he and his father along with his relatives strangulated Jayanthy to death and threw her body into the Thadapalli canal three years back. Later it was confirmed that the body recovered by the police on May 28, 2002, was that of Jayanthy. On the basis of this a murder case was registered against Subramaniam and Marappa Chettiar. The police have arrested two more persons from the Gobichettipalayam area. They are searching for another person.
