78th jayantotsava of former Jidga Mutt seer celebrated

Chief Minister lays foundation stone for `Anubhava Mantap' at the mutt



DEVOUT FOLLOWER: Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh having a discussion with Sri Murugarajendra Mahaswamigalu of the Jidga Mutt and Mahant Shivacharya of Sulpul Mutt at the jayantotsava of the late Sri Shadakshari Shivayogi Siddarameshwara Mahaswamigalu at Jidga Mutt in Gulbarga on Sunday.

GULBARGA: Glowing tributes were paid to the late Sri Shadakshari Shivayogi Siddarameshwara Mahaswamigalu of Jidga Mutt in Aland taluk in Gulbarga district on Sunday. A colourful function was organised to observe the 78th jayantotsava of the seer. Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and Minister of State for Sugar Amaregowda Bayyapur participated in the function.

Mr. Dharam Singh, who is a follower of the late seer, made it a point to visit the Jidga Mutt and pay obeisance to the samadhi of Shadakshari Shivayogi Siddarameshwara Mahaswamigalu. Mr Singh who arrived here by Karnataka Express travelled to the Jidga Mutt, 70 km from Gulbarga city, to participate in the Jayantotsava of the swamiji.

He rushed back to Gulbarga city to receive Governor T.N. Chaturvedi and Chief Justice N.K. Sodhi who arrived here by helicopter to participate in the foundation stone laying function for the circuit Bench in the city.

Pontiff of the Jidga Mutt Sri Murugarajendra Mahaswamigalu, who succeeded the late swamiji, felicitated Mr. Singh at a function organised at the mutt. Mr. Singh also laid the foundation stone for the "Anubhava Mantap" and a two-lane concrete road in the mutt.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh said that the Jidga Mutt is a secular religious institution where caste is not a barrier and no superstition is followed. The late pontiff was a true secularist and did not believe in casteism, and many of his close followers were Dalits and those from backward classes.

He said he had special regard for the late swamiji and has not missed the jayantotsava of the swamiji even once. Mr. Bayyapur spoke on the occasion. Former Minister Malikayya Guttedar and several legislators were present.
