Special Correspondent

A total of 2,000 constables being deployed for bandobust

ONGOLE: Superintendent of Police, N. Subramanyam, said that elaborate bandobust arrangements are being made for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's visit to Velugonda and Gundlakamma project sites on September 20 in view of the increased threat perception after break down of talks with the Maoists.

He told newspersons here on Sunday that Velugonda is a naxal-infested area even though Gundlakamma is relatively free from their influence. A total of 2,000 constables, are being deployed for bandobust duty at both the places.

He said photo identity cards are being issued to all the persons, including construction workers, present at the sites.

He asked the mediapersons too to display their identity cards prominently to avoid any confrontation with the police.

People can attend the meetings only on invitation at both the places.

He gave detailed instructions to the photographers and videographers to maintain at least five feet distance from the VIP and desist from entering the sterile zone.

He said all precautions are taken to provide vantage position for them to take pictures of the Chief Minister without interfering with security arrangements.
