Six members of a gang arrested on assault charge

One of the arrested was involved in murder case

BANGALORE: The Commercial Street police have arrested six members of a gang, allegedly involved in the assault of a rival gang member on D.K. Street on September 9.

The police said that six persons of Chappal Hameed gang, seeking revenge of murder of one of their colleagues, assaulted Hyder Askar with lethal weapons. Hyder, the police said, was involved in the murder of Rizwan and was released on bail a few days before the assault.

After the assault, Hyder was taken to Bowring Hospital and then to the intensive care unit of Hosmat hospital. A police team, led by Commercial Street Police Inspector Babu Naronha, raided a hideout of the gang in Adugodi of Ramanagar. Here the police seized the lethal weapons used by the gang. The names of the accused were given as Firoz (24) of Bamboo Bazaar, Zabiullah (32) of Shivajinagar, Nadeem (26) of K.G. Halli, Ayaz Sultan (25) of D.J. Halli, Syed Nayeem (27) of K.J. Halli, and Sajid Khan (20) of B.M. Layout.

Cars recovered

The Banaswadi police have arrested two persons, one on the charge of stealing vehicles and another on the charge of selling stolen vehicles.

The police said Riyaz (38) was involved in stealing cars and vans in the K.G. Halli and Frazer Town police station limits. The police have recovered six cars and two vans from him.

Aleem, the other accused person, used to sell stolen vehicles by replacing the number plates and chassis numbers of the vehicles purchased by him during auctions.

He was doing this from a shop in Shivajinagar, the police said.

The Peenya Police have arrested two persons on the charge of stealing two-wheelers and recovered two motorcycles for them. The accused, Santosh (18) and Pravin (18), had allegedly stolen the vehicles in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits.

LPG unit raided

The Siddapura police on Sunday raided an illegal liquefied petroleum gas refilling unit in Arekempanahalli. The police recovered 450 small cylinders used by autorickshaws, 160 empty LPG cylinders, and three vehicles.

The police have arrested four persons, including the owner of the unit. The police have registered a case under Essential Commodities Act.

Another illegal LPG refilling unit was raided by the City Crime Branch police in Dasarahalli in Kamakshipalya police station limits. The police have recovered seven domestic LPG cylinders, four filling rods, and 25 small cylinders.

Six arrested

The Rajgopalnagar police arrested six persons on the charge of attempting to burgle a house at Karisab Layout. The police recovered machetes and sticks from them.

False complaint

The Magadi Road police have arrested four persons on charges of lodging a false complaint of an assault.

According to the police, Sachin, the accused, filed a complaint with the police that he was assaulted and robbed of Rs. 40,000.

On inquiry, the police found that Sachin had filed a false compliant on the suggestion by his friends, Manoj, Mukesh, and Vimal.

The police recovered Rs. 38,250 from the four accused.
