NEW DELHI: Three alleged criminals, including one who had escaped from a Haryana jail, were arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police on Saturday. Stolen goods worth lakhs were recovered at their instance. According to the police, Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma of the Special Cell received a tip-off that Jeet Ram, who had recently escaped from Rewari Jail, and his accomplice, Neetu, would come to meet their friend on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road in South Delhi. A police team laid a siege and arrested Jeet, Neetu and their accomplice, Rajeev. A .32 bore pistol of Italian make, a country-made pistol and live cartridges were recovered from their possession. The motorcycle he was using was found to be a stolen one. At their instance, the police recovered gold jewellery worth Rs. 2 lakhs, three mobile phones and Rs. 10,200 in cash. During interrogation, Jeet allegedly revealed that he was in convicted in a murder case in 1998, in which he had killed his cousin over a land dispute. However, he soon escaped from the police custody and began committing robberies in Delhi and Haryana. In 1999, he was arrested by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police, but he came out on parole from Rewari Jail on the pretext of attending his sister's marriage and vanished from the scene. In 2002, he was arrested for allegedly abducting and criminally assaulting a woman, who he claimed was married to him. In July last year, he was against accused in raping a woman. On August 10, he again escaped from Rewari Jail when he was allowed to meet his family members. On September 13, they allegedly robbed a man of his motorcycle, a mobile and other documents at Mehrauli. Three days later, they robbed a woman of jewellery worth over Rs. 2 lakhs.
