Ganesha festival concludes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The two-week-long Ganesha festival drew to a close here today with the immersion of the idols in the sea at Shanghumughom in the city. Earlier, processions carrying idols consecrated at 1,008 centres and also in more than one lakh households were taken in different parts of the district. The festival was organised jointly by the Sree Ganeshotsava Trust and the Shiv Sena. - Staff Reporter

50th baby in

`Amma Thottil'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: `Amma Thottil,' the cradle provided by the Kerala State Child Welfare Council, received yet another `guest,' a baby girl who appeared to be a week old. Named Kanchana, she is the 50th baby and also the 30th girl child to be left in the cradle. Genuine claimants of the child have been asked to contact the administrator of the council. - Staff Reporter

LBS centre invites applications

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LBS Centre for Science and Technology has invited applications for in-house training at the centre. Those who have successfully completed PGDCA, PGDIT and DCFI courses after 2003 are eligible to apply. The specimen of the application form is available in the website "www.lbskerala.com". Army recruitment result announced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The result of the common entrance examination conducted by the Branch Recruiting Office, Thiruvananthapuram, on August 31, for recruitment to the Indian Army, has been published. The candidate with roll number 1401 alone has been declared passed in the category of `Soldier technical'.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The All Kerala Private College Teachers' Association and the Confederation of University Employees' Organisations, Kerala, have resolved to take part in the national strike to be held on September 29. - Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chinmaya Mission is organising a "Mathrupooja" at the Alakapuri Auditorium at Edappazhinji here from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 9. Swami Adhyatmananda Saraswathy of Chinmaya Mission Kozhikode will be the Acharyan.
