HYDERABAD: Several long distance trains, including all the express trains bound for north coastal parts of the State, were cancelled and diverted on Tuesday following breaches on tracks between Garla and Gundarathimadugu and overflowing water between Chintakani and Bonakallu on the Kazipet-Vijayawada section owing to heavy rains. Floods in north coastal Andhra and floodwater overflowing onto the tracks at Gollaprolu on Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam section further hit the rail traffic. Many long distance trains bound for the national capital and other destinations in northern and western parts of the country from Chennai and down South too were cancelled or diverted. The cancelled trains include those bound for various parts of the State from the city - Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Godavari express, Hyderabad-Kakinada Gautami express, Secunderabad-Bhubhaneshwar Visakha express, Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma express, Hyderabad-Tirupathi Padmavathi express, Secunderabad-Machilipatnam express, Hyderabad-Chennai Charminar express and the Secunderabad-Vijayawada inter city express, most of them in both the directions. The Tirupathi-Visakhapatnam-Tirupathi Tirumala express was cancelled in both the directions. Similarly, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada Ratnachal express, Tenali-Visakhapatnam Janmabhoomi express, Visakhapatnam-Hazrat Nizamuddin Link Express were also cancelled.

In the morning, the Guntur-Secunderabad Golconda express, which had to be stopped at Chintakani, was taken back to Guntur while the Vijayawada-Secunderabad Satavahana express was also run back to Vijayawada from Potapalli. The Hyderabad-Chennai Chennai express was the lone express train that left the city on Tuesday. Konark express from Bhubaneshwar was running way beyond schedule and was expected to reach the city at 9.30 p.m. instead of 11.30 a.m. The Bhubhaneshwar-Secunderabad Visakha express was regulated at Vizianagaram and will run back to Bhubhaneshwar. The Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma express was terminated at Visakhapatnam itself while the Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express, which was stranded at Dornakal was run via Vijayawada, Guntur, Pagdipalli and Kazipet. The SCR also diverted 13 trains including Trivandrum-Bilaspur express regulated at Khammam and run via Vijayawada-Guntur-Pagidipalli and Kazipet, Travandrum-Gorakhpur Raptisagar express was diverted via Dharmavaram, Dronchellam, Secunderabad and Kazipet, Dehradun-Chennai and Lucknow-Chennai were diverted via Secunderabad, Dronachellam and Renngunta a railway release said here. On Wednesday, the Hyderabad-Howrah East Coast express will remain cancelled while the Nizamabad-Tirupathi Krishna express shall be cancelled between Nizamabad and Vijayawada.
