Livestock insurance, methods of estimation of products and fixing of prices in focus

CHENNAI:
A two-day meeting of the technical committee of Directors to help improve Animal Husbandry and Dairying Statistics was held here at the Madras Veterinary College.
Organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India and the State Department of Animal Husbandry, the meeting discussed policy for livestock insurance covering all farm animals in rural areas, methods of estimation of livestock products such as milk, meat, egg, wool, leather, skin and hide, effective system of collection and fixing of competitive prices of livestock and livestock products.
A.M.A. Hakeem, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry , Central Government, Vishwanath Shegaonkar, Secretary of the State Animal Husbandry Department, N. Balaraman, Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and the Animal Sciences University, Arun Saxena, Advisor Statistics, Central Government, T.N. Palanivelu, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, participated.
