MANGALORE: The district administration on Tuesday distributed sites and cash to 20 families living in Adyapadi village on Tuesday as part of the Bajpe airport expansion. B. Nagaraja Shetty, MLA, distributed the sites and cheques to the families. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had sought 158 acres from the Government for the expansion of the airport. Of this, 130 acres is private land. There were 105 families living on the private land. Of 105 families, the district administration had given compensation to nine families sometime ago. So it had to give compensation to the remaining 97 families. According to Assistant Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma, the 20 families at Adyapadi were given sites and each family has been given Rs. 58,700.
