Juvenile welfare board cases to be settled before January

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All cases pending before the juvenile welfare boards in the State for more than four months will be settled before January next year. The decision was taken at a meeting convened to review the activities of the juvenile justice board in the city.

The meeting was presided over by High Court Judge R. Basanth.

The meeting decided to conduct summary trials to dispose of the pending cases at the earliest. Steps will be taken to make the places where sittings are held more child friendly. It has also been decided to review the functioning of juvenile justice institutions by a magistrate once a month.
