NEW DELHI: In a major drug haul, the North-East Delhi police have seized more than 1,000 kg of ganja. One person has been arrested. According to the police, a Premier-118NE car was flagged down for a check near Harsh Vihar in North-East Delhi on Monday. The police recovered 190 kg of ganja from the car. Its driver, Chunnu Prasad, a resident of Seemapuri in North-East Delhi, was arrested. At his instance, the police claimed to have recovered another 1,010 kg of ganja from a godown at Sonia Vihar in North-East Delhi. During interrogation, the accused allegedly told the police that he had come to Delhi six years ago and had been staying at Seemapuri for the past two years. Earlier, he was working as a security guard in Dilshad Colony but was unable to meet the financial needs of his family. He then began indulging in drug peddling. The police said he came in contact with P. Sukumaran and Radha Kishan, who were already into drug peddling, and began working as a carrier. He would take the consignments from the godown in Sonia Vihar and, as per their directions, deliver it to various contacts in Ghaziabad and also in North-West Delhi. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act has been registered at Nand Nagri police station. Efforts are now on to arrest Sukumaran and Radha Kishan.
