This Day That Age
The Laotian leaders, who have been in Delhi during the last few days conferring with Prime Minister Nehru, have agreed that the best guarantee for peace in the world and for friendship between countries is to adhere to the principles of Panch Shila. A statement released in New Delhi on September 21, at the conclusion of the visit of the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Laos, emphasises the historical and cultural ties between the two countries and points out that the friendly relations could be strengthened further. The principal object of the Laotian leaders' visit was to bring to Mr. Nehru's notice the difficulties confronting the Royal Laotian Government in getting control of the territory occupied by the Pathet Lao resistance group. Laos feels India is in a position to use her good offices and prevail on the Pathet Lao.
