NGOs get Japanese aid

NEW DELHI:
: The Japanese Government has extended an assistance of Rs. 74 lakh to two non-government organisations in support of the educational and healthcare projects undertaken by them. The grant comes is under "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects."
The Meerut Children Welfare Trust, which is running a special school for the mentally-challenged in Meerut, will receive about Rs. 37 lakhs for the benefit of 250 students. Shri Parmatma Chand Bhandari Charitable Trust, promoting healthcare to the rural and disadvantaged communities in Pipar region of the Thar desert in Rajasthan, will also get an equal amount to help 12,000 people.
