DEHRA DUN: The Uttaranchal Government has ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee. The issues to be probed include purchase of an expensive car for the Chairman, frequent travels to Mumbai and Delhi by him and some of the members and giving contracts to certain "favourites" over the past two years. The probe seems to be the outcome of allegations made by the Chief Executive Officer. It may be mentioned that two Chief Executive Officers of the Committee have resigned over the past two years alleging large-scale misuse of funds. The Chairman, Nand Kishore Nautiyal, has also sought a probe into the Committee's spending over the past 10 years. He has described the allegations made by the Chief Executive Officer as politically motivated, saying "my detractors did not like my intentions to cleanse the system".
