ANANTAPUR: Three key Maoists were killed in an alleged encounter with the police on the hillocks, near Chinarayanipalle in Bukkapatnam mandal of the district early Thursday. According to Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain, when the Greyhounds and special police teams were conducting combing operations in the Bukkapatnam forest area they came across 10 persons. When the police asked them to identify themselves they opened fire and the police retaliated. Later, the police found three bodies. They were identified as Mala Nagaraju alias R.K., deputy commander of Bahuda dalam , Adi alias Shyam , deputy commander of Penna Ahobilam area dalam, and Bestha Raghavendra alias Ravi , a member of the Maddileru platoon. According to a report from Guntur, a Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire on Thursday with a police special party at Vellaturu village.
