AAI official's prompt gesture
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
An Airports Authority of India official restored to an aged couple, bound for New York via Frankfurt, their envelope containing $10,000 at the Anna International Terminal.
Airport sources said that K. Sundaran, manager, was on his rounds when he found the envelope containing the money. There was also a telephone number of Ramaswamy of Gobichettipalayam. The official immediately contacted Mr. Ramaswamy and got the names of the couple, who were boarding a Lufthansa flight on Tuesday midnight.
The couple, who were in their 80s, had not realised they had lost the money. They were identified at the passenger security hold area and after checking their bona fides, passport and the Reserve Bank of India receipt, the huge volume of foreign currency was handed over to them.
