PONDICHERRY: The Pondicherry `Construction and Building Workers Welfare Board' will train masons to update their skills and keep abreast of the latest trends in construction industry, said the Health and Labour Minister, E. Valsaraj, He was speaking after distributing cheques to families of deceased construction workers (who were members of the Board) here on Thursday. He told newspersons that the Board had established a Rs. 1-crore corpus fund, through a cess on contractors taking up tender works in the Public Works and Local Administration Departments and builders of commercial complexes. Mr. Valsaraj said the Board had brought down the annual membership fee from Rs. 240 to 100.
