AP Police starts off in style

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Police began it's campaign in style in the Sports Coaching Foundation Trophy hockey tournament with an emphatic 6-0 win against Income Tax at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Thursday.

Rafiuddin, Suri Babu (2), Gangadhar, Suresh and Nooruddin scored for the winners.

Cluster I (Golconda) wins

Cluster I (Golconda) defeated Cluster II (Uppal) 2-0 in the boys final of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan regional hockey tournament. Prashant Rai and Sunil Didariya were the corers.

In the girls final, Cluster II (Uppal) outplayed Cluster I (Golconda) 9-1. Revathi scored a hat-trick and Rushita netted three goals. Meenakshi, Rekha and Anuradha struck once each.

Jain School wins

Jain International School defeated P. Obul Reddy School 28-14 in the girls' semifinal of the Cluster VII CBSE inter-schools basketball tournament. In the other semifinal, Chirec Public School edged out a fighting Army School 12-7.

Vineet moves up

Vineet Kanjani defeated Rohit Michael 58-24, 68-50, 60-14 in the preliminary round of the Inter-club snooker tournament.

Off-spinner N. Yuvraj Yadav (five for 20) helped St. John's Church Junior College record a 10-wicket win against Abhyasa Junior College in the Parle Cup (under-17) cricket tournament here.

The scores: Parle Cup (under-17): Abhyasa JC 97 (N. Yuvraj Yadav five for 20, Dilip four for 15) lost to St. John's Church JC 100 for no loss (Benjamin Thomas 59 not out).

Nruptunga JC 187 (M. Sashidhar Rao 90, M. Pradeep Kumar 50, G. Shekar five for 29) bt Vijetha JC 138 (M. Sashidhar Rao six for 30).

HPS Begumpet 103 (Sujeet Parbatani five for nine) bt Wesley `B' 71 (Ayash four for 16).

St. George's Grammar School 104 lost to Boys' Town HS 108 for five.

A-Division league: Cheerful Chums 188 (Vishal 53, Sridhar four for 39) lost to Lord's CC 189 for six.
