BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver and his accomplices allegedly robbed two youths of two mobile phones and cash in J.J. Nagar police station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 11 p.m. Nanda Kumar and Lokesh, both mobile phone repairers, boarded the autorickshaw at the City Market to go to their house in Rajarajeshwarinagar on Mysore Road. Two persons were already in the vehicle. After travelling some distance, the driver turned towards Hosaguddadahalli. When Kumar and Lokesh questioned the driver, he along with the two others, who were in the autorickshaw, threatened them with a knife and robbed them of Rs. 250 in cash and two mobile phones, together worth Rs. 23,000. The J.J. Nagar police have registered a case.
Chains snatched
Two men, riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 15,000 from Harini when she was walking near a park in ISRO Layout around 7.30 a.m. on Thursday. The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case. In a similar incident, two youths, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 13,000 from M. Elizabeth when she was walking at Hosachikkasandra around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jeevan Bima Nagar police have registered a case.
Caught
An alert public chased and caught a youth who allegedly threw chilly powder into the eyes of a woman and snatched her gold chain in J.C. Nagar police station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 10.30 p.m. Nataraj (22) of R.T. Nagar snatched the chain from Nagarathana when she was walking near the Maheshwari Temple along with her husband, Lakshmipathy. As the couple raised an alarm, passers-by caught Nataraj and handed him over to the police.
Recovered
The Madivala police on Tuesday arrested three persons on the charge of theft and recovered from them centring sheets worth Rs. 40,000. The names of the arrested were given as Vijay Kumar (21) of Singasandra and Gopi (22) of Konena Agrahara. The third is a 15-year-old boy from Govindashetty Palya.
