BANGALORE: To ease traffic congestion on Airport Road, the police have converted 6th Cross, Jeevan Bima Nagar, (Hotel Leela Palace Road) into one-way. From October 1, vehicles coming from the Airport Road-Manipal Hospital junction will not be allowed on 6th Cross, Jeevan Bima Nagar up to the 15th Main Road junction, according to a press release from the Commissioner of Police, Ajai Kumar Singh, on Thursday. Vehicles going towards Airport Road from the junction of 15th Main Road have to now take Jeevan Bima Nagar Main Road and pass through Suranjandas Road or take a turn at west on Jeevan Bima Nagar Main Road and pass through 100 ft Road, Indiranagar. The new one-way rule is expected to bring down the traffic hold-up near the Airport Road-Manipal Hospital junction and also reduce the travel time from the airport to city, the release said. With traffic often getting blocked at the Airport Road-Manipal Hospital junction, people going to the airport as well as those coming to the city have been put to hardship.
