Crushed to death

NEW DELHI: A 52-year-old woman, who worked in Baroda House, was killed when a rashly driven bus ran over her on Tilak Marg in New Delhi on Thursday. A Maruti Esteem car was also partially damaged.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the bus plying on route No. 502 ploughed into the pavement and hit the woman. She was rushed to RML Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The bus driver and conductor fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind.

The deceased was identified as Francisco.

Woman held for murder

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death at Dabri in South-West Delhi on Wednesday. The woman has been arrested.

According to the police, Ramesh and his wife Madhu, residents of Madhu Nagar in Dabri, had an altercation over some issue around 12-30 p.m. following which Madhu picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach and arms. Ramesh's minor daughter, who was present in the house, raised an alarm which alerted the neighbours.

They rushed Ramesh to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival. The police were subsequently informed and Madhu handed over to the police.

Fatal hit

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl was killed when a small truck hit her from behind at Krishna Nagar in East Delhi on Wednesday.

According to the police, Himani, a resident of Chander Nagar in Krishna Nagar, was returning home from school when the incident occurred near her home around 2-15 p.m. She died on the spot. Following the incident, the driver of the small truck abandoned the vehicle and escaped from the spot.

Held for bus robberies

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old man was arrested by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police on Thursday for allegedly committing a robbery in a bus on Ambedkar Marg on Tuesday.

The police received complaints from Jai Arora, an executive in the Stock Holding Corporation of India, and Raj Kishore, a resident of Jaitpur Extension, alleging that they were robbed of their belongings in a bus plying on route No. 544.

A team led by Inspector Rajender Singh zeroed in on Girdhari, a resident of Madangir, and arrested him at a bus shelter near Sheikh Sarai.

Three arrested

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly trying to sell a vehicle they had reported stolen three years ago.

The accused, Vivek Gaur and Gaurav Khosla, were arrested after they struck a deal for the Hyundai Accent with a decoy sent by the Crime Branch.

Man held with pistol

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man allegedly carrying a country-made pistol was arrested at Prashant Vihar in North-West Delhi on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off that a criminal would come to Japanese Park at Prashant Vihar, the police raided the place on Wednesday evening and arrested him after a firearm was allegedly recovered from his possession.

Two booked

NEW DELHI: Two persons who had allegedly robbed a young man near Anand Vihar Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in East Delhi on Wednesday have been arrested by the East Delhi police.

They have been identified as Kamal and Himanshu, both residents of Bulandshahr in U.P.
