South-bound trains remain affected

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Trains services between Delhi and Southern States remained affected for the third consecutive day on Thursday due to heavy rain and floods in Andhra Pradesh. As tracks in several areas have either been washed away or are inundated, the authorities have no choice but to cancel or reschedule at least half-a-dozen trains while several others are running via diverted routes.

According to a Northern Railway spokesperson, the Vijayawada-Duvvada section of South Central Railway has been badly affected due to which most of the trains are running via Ballharshah-Secunderabad-Wadi-Dharamawaram section.

The trains cancelled on Thursday include the 6688 Jammu Tawi-Mangalore Navyug Express. It will now run on Friday via Itarsi-Bhusawal-Manmad-Daund-Wadi, while the Nizamuddin-Trivandrum Express has also been rescheduled for Friday.

Similarly, the New Delhi-Chennai G T Express and Jammu Tawi-Chennai Express will remain cancelled on Friday. The trains that are running via diverted routes include Kerala Express, Chennai Rajdhani Express, Nizamuddin-Vishakhapatnam Link Express and Tamil Nadu Express.
