NEW DELHI: Eight people from Tamil Nadu allegedly engaged in theft and bag-lifting have been arrested by the Special Staff of the New Delhi police. They had allegedly stolen a digital diary from the car of a Member of Parliament from Bhagalpur in Bihar in the Mandir Marg area last month. A team comprising Sub-Inspectors Binod, Rajinder Prasad and V.N. Jha, and Head Constable Sohanvir, received a tip-off that some people from Tamil Nadu were into bag lifting in the district. The police zeroed in on Swamy, Aramugam, G. Subramaniam, residents of Chennai, and Jayaselam, a resident of Madurai, and arrested them from near Plaza Cinema at Connaught Place. From their person, the police allegedly recovered a digital diary, which was found stolen from the car of Sushil Kumar Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Bhagalpur. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they used to dispose of stolen goods to Sanjay Arora, who was also arrested from his Connaught Place shop. The accused further disclosed that other gang members were living at New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi. Subsequently, the police raided the place and arrested four more persons, Silver Raj and Rajesh from Pondicherry; Shankar Naraynan from Dendigul and Senthil from Chennai.
