Symposium on Sensex on September 27

CHENNAI: The happenings in the stock market have drawn the attention of even small investors. The recent highs attained by the Sensex surprised not only stockholders but also academics.

To analyse the reasons behind this sudden spurt and its implications, the Departments of Business Economics and Commerce and the School of Management of D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, are organising a symposium on "Abnormal reality: rising Sensex rattling scrips - vital lessons." S. Narasimhan, Vice-principal and head of the Economics Department, said the symposium would be held on September 27.

T.P. Raman, Managing Director, Sundaram Asset Management; Krishnamurthy, Deputy General Manger, Indian Overseas Bank Funds Operations; Amarnath, Managing Director, Patterson & Company; and D.N. Dass, Director, Madras Stock Exchange, will present their viewson this unprecedented upswing of Sensex and subsequent movements.

Postgraduate students of city colleges, corporates and members of the Stock Exchange are expected to participate.
