Mahua-Jaipur highway to be four-laned

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: In what is described as by far the biggest BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) contract under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP)-Phase IIIA, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has inked a Concession Agreement for four-laning the Mahua-Jaipur Section of NH-11 on the Jaipur-Agra highway.

The four-laning of this high-traffic-density corridor is expected to be completed within 36 months at a cost of about Rs.483crores (an average of approximately Rs.4.47crores per km).

The agreement was signed by the NHAI authorities with a Malaysian firm, M/s. IJM Corporation Berhad, to four-lane the 108-km-long Mahua-Jaipur section of NH-11 (Km 120 to Km 228) in Rajasthan on a BOT basis. The concessionaire has been given a grant of Rs. 66.39 crores for a period of 25 years (including construction period of three years).

Presently the Mahua-Jaipur section is a two-lane one but on completion this 108-km stretch would be four-laned with paved shoulders.
