Bank managers told to focus on agricultural lending

SHIMOGA: General Manager of the Vijaya Bank Lakshmikanth Hegde has called upon branch managers to strive hard to meet the respective targets with special emphasis on agricultural lending and small and medium enterprises lending.

Addressing the annual business conference of the branches coming under the Shimoga region, he said the main corporate objective of the bank for the current financial year is to achieve a total business of Rs. 50,000 crores through the 1,000 branches, by expanding the clientele base and increasing low cost deposit.

Mr. Hegde said 160 new automated teller machines will opened and that 360 branches will be brought under the core banking solution. He said that the bank will launch its debit card in association with Visa and Master International.

Regional Manager of the Shimoga Region P. Satish Shetty said the region has exceeded the target under the priority sector lending, distribution of Vijaya Kisan Cards and "Tractors for Farmers" scheme.
