Globalisation is harming Indian culture, says Na. D'Souza

Special Correspondent

`Enlightened people should fight for the protection of Indian culture'

PRESERVING VALUES: Noted Kannada author Na. D'Souza inaugurating the seminar on the contemporary cultural crises in Shimoga on Saturday.

SHIMOGA: Noted Kannada Writer Na. D'Souza said here on Saturday that Indian culture, which is undergoing a cultural crisis as a direct consequence of globalisation, should come out of its influence and reassert its glory.

Inaugurating a seminar on contemporary cultural crises, organised as part of the Dattatri Endowment at the DVS Arts and Science College, he said Indian culture, which is a result of the life experience spread over thousands of years, should be aware of the ill-effects of the alien culture. He said the concept of the globalisation is threatening to ruin the happiness and contentment that we used to derive from our multi faceted culture, which aims at developing unity in diversity.

He cautioned that the monoculture being promoted by globalisation is out to kill the spirit of the multi cultural concept. It is the responsibility of all enlightened people to fight for the protection of Indian culture.

President of the DVS Management K.G. Subramanya presided over the function. Principal of the college C.S. Nanjundaiah was present.
